- NOTICE - regarding strike action
Dear Parents,
Due to the ongoing bullying tactics the provincial government has used to ignore bargaining to create a contract in good faith with teachers, we feel we have been forced into making the drastic move of striking. This is not an action any teacher takes lightly but we feel it is a last resort to tell the government that they cannot make up new laws as they see fit and that they need to honor their contractual obligations as we have.
So, this means there will be no regularly scheduled classes next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Mrs. Godfrey has sent home a note regarding this matter. Despite what the government says about teachers or the way it treats professionals, we, all teachers, really do care about our students and are now standing up to the government in hopes that money and conditions can be restored to allow all students more support, smaller class sizes and the return of programs beneficial to those with learning difficulties.
My sincerest apology for your inconvenience, but for me, this short term inconvenience will hopefully give us some long term gains for the kids.
There are many more issues on the table which I won't take the time to discuss here, but this information regarding the strike is imminent. Please take some time to become informed if it is of a concern to you and your family.
Thanks you,
Gayle Dill
